Joan Jeans

I studied at Sheffield College of Art in the Sixties, Diploma in art and Design Fine Art, Painting with Printmaking. Italian Government Scholarship. University of London Institute of Education, Art Teacher’s Certificate, 1970

I have taught art at many levels all my life and enjoyed it very much. I have also continued my own work on oils, watercolour, drawing and etching. My main love is painting landscapes from life, particularly flowers, plant forms, trees , water, with close ups of natural forms, aiming to show a response to shape, colour, pattern , and light.

I enjoy closely packed compositions with overlapping shapes. Recently I have found the Winter garden of the Botanic gardens in Cambridge inspirational, and always paint my own, very small but very full, Cambridge garden.
