Mariya Myronova

Mariya Myronova is a Cambridge-based surrealist artist whose work explores the psychological and societal dimensions of contemporary life. Her practice is grounded in social surrealism, using symbolic language and metaphor to investigate complex emotional and intellectual themes. Each painting is conceived as a visual algorithm—an attempt to analyse, decode, and reflect the unseen patterns of human experience.

Originally trained in art during her early years, Myronova later pursued academic study in linguistics and worked for many years as a graphic designer and art educator. These influences, combined with a lifelong engagement with art history, contribute to the structured yet intuitive nature of her compositions.

In addition to her oil paintings, she produces a parallel body of work in watercolour—introspective and meditative pieces that offer emotional balance and a more spontaneous creative outlet. Myronova exhibits regularly and teaches in her private studio, where she mentors students across a range of ages and abilities.
