Patrick Wilkins

I am a self taught artist with a professional background in engineering design and technical illustration. Originally from Rochester in Kent, after a decade in Manchester, some years in London, some in Oxford, some in the West Midlands, some in Broadstairs and much travelling in the USA, I now live near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

The art of American realist Edward Hopper is a major influence, as are the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Film Noir. I generally use coloured pencil, and occasionally acryl-gouache paint, on illustration board.

I have exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Turner Contemporary in Margate and the Mall Gallery in London.  Awards include the ‘President’s Award’ at the UK Coloured Pencil Society Open Exhibition, and ‘Best In Show’ (Colour) at the Society Of Graphic Fine Art Open Exhibition.

I was featured in Artist and Illustrators magazine in February 2020, and The Artist magazine in April 2023, I also appeared on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year (Season 7).
