Sue Lee

I have been involved in art in one form or another all my life. I was part of a very creative extended family and was introduced to art at an early age.

After a busy career in teaching and advocacy, I retired in 2016 and decided to explore painting in watercolour. What a challenge that turned out to be! I am very passionate about the medium and never cease to wonder at how unpredictable and exciting putting paint to paper can be! I love being out in wild and natural landscapes and have found much inspiration on visits to the Hebrides and the north coast of Wales.

I’ve been fortunate to have attended several workshops led by members of the Royal Institute of Watercolours – in particular Ann Blockley, Chris Forsey and recently Kate Bentley who have all taken watercolour beyond the traditional ways of painting to explore innovative ways of using the medium.
