Donna McLuskie
Donna is a pareidolist whose drawings share her ability to perceive faces and creatures in unusual places. Her pareidolia drawings have been exhibited at various galleries across the UK, including The Heong Gallery at Downing College, Cambridge. Her work has won a World Wildlife Fund national art competition. Invitations to share insights about pareidolia drawing have resulted in lectures for the Cambridge Science Festival in Massachusetts and at West Road Concert Hall for a group of PhD candidates researching physics with a particular emphasis on music.
With the same technical pens that she used to produce scalable working drawings for skyscraper construction, Donna now delights in her fine art work, which exploits the unpredictable nature of rough cotton rag in lieu of slick mylar A0 construction sheets from back-in-the-day.
Looking ahead, she increasingly embraces the vibrancy of hues and combinations of brush and penwork, leaning further into the realm of a colourist.
