Many congratulations to CDS member Katy Bailey, who has been elected, as a Member of the Pastel Society after an arduous selection process.

Katy commented: “I was very pleased to hear that I was officially made a Member of the Pastel Society. There were five candidates up for membership this year. To become a candidate you need 60% of the members’ votes. Members vote throughout the duration of the exhibition in a ballot box and the result is not revealed until after the exhibition ends. I began submitting to the Pastel Society in 2015, when my first submission made pre-selection. In order to be eligible a candidate needs two pieces selected for the exhibition for three years, plus submission of a detailed portfolio and a 5 page online portfolio.

It isn’t an easy process as if you don’t get two pieces in one year, you have to start again. As a member I can exhibit up to 4 pieces yearly. I am excited to be part of this 127 year old society, excited to have a voice now. It’s worth not giving up on dreams and, I feel very proud I have finally done it.”
