A CDS workshop with Derek Wood, Sunday 8th October 10am – 4pm at Grantchester Village Hall.

It will be an exciting and fun day of lino cutting and experimental printing. We will begin with making some simple accordion folding books, made from a single sheet of A3 paper. These will be the basis of our Artists’ books, which we will be printing later. We can then work on our linocuts, based on our own reference material and drawings.

After lunch, we can begin printing, experimenting with the linocuts, maybe combining lino with mono printing, masks or stencils, collage and over-printing. We can then use our accordion books to create unique Artists’ books. There are places for 12 people, I will provide Lino, ‘safe-wash’ printing inks, rollers and inking trays, and good quality Bristol and cartridge paper for printing.

Materials to bring along:

  • Reference material and drawings for a small linocut, approximately A6 size.
  • A small cutting mat and craft knife
  • Apron / gloves etc.
  • If you have a baren for hand-burnishing, otherwise I do have a supply of bone folders which work equally as well.
  • Your own lino-cutting tools, although I will have a supply of these as well.
